Montone

Built on a hill overlooking the Upper Tiber Valley, Montone which in Italian means 'Aries' or 'Ram' is a small medieval village unchanged through the centuries and beautifully preserved.

Surrounded by sturdy walls, the town is a network of narrow streets, alleys and steep stairways.  Apart from its historic beauty, Montone is home to some delightful restaurants and a charming boutique hotel - Locanda del Capitano - as well as shops for the daily essentials.

Montone is ideally located for visits to Gubbio, Perugia, Assisi, Spoleto and Lago di Trasimeno as well as exploring other parts of Umbria and Tuscany.
